Manu Ginobili announced his retirement on Monday as a member of the San Antonio Spurs, the only team he played for his 16 seasons in the NBA. Ginobili was a late second-round pick back in 1999 but arrived in 2002 to the Spurs. He's one of just seven players to play at least 16 seasons with one team. He finished with one-Sixth Man of the Year Award ('07-'08) and two NBA All-Star appearances ('05 & '11) plus 4x NBA Champion.
Fantasy Impact
Ginobili wasn't a premier fantasy option like some of the teammates over the years like David Robinson, Tony Parker, Tim Duncan, among others. However, he was one of the best Spurs legends and teammates and will also be remembered for his longevity and clutch play in the playoffs. There's a solid chance he's an NBA Hall of Famer and a lock to be in the Spurs Ring of Honor.
Manu Ginobili played a series-high 25 minutes on Sunday and responded with 16 points on 5-of-10 shooting including knocking down three three-pointers. Ginobili added three rebounds and five assists as the Spurs force Game 5 on Tuesday.
Fantasy Impact
Ginobili put on a show in what could be the last home game of his career. Look for Ginobili to get extended minutes again on Tuesday when the Spurs try to avoid elimination. Ginobili is only a boom-or-bust GPP option in DFS.
Manu Ginobili finished second on the team in points scoring 17 on 5-for-11 shooting, including 2-for-6 from beyond the arc in Monday night's 98-85 win over the Kings. Ginobili added six rebounds, five assists and one steal to his impressive stat line over 27 minutes of action.
Fantasy Impact
What decade is this? Ginobili posted a second consecutive gem Monday night. It'll remain to be seen if he can keep this up as the Spurs roll into the playoffs, but Ginobili has turned the clock back and seems to know what time it is. While it's just two games, he hasn't strung together consecutive games like this all season. He's a player to keep your eye on but maybe not overreact just yet.
Manu Ginobili did not miss a shot in Saturday's 116-105 win over the Blazers, scoring 17 points on 7-for-7 shooting, including 3-for-3 from beyond the arc. Ginobili added three rebounds, one assist to his line over 19 minutes off the bench. It's the second time in four games he's scored in double-figures.
Fantasy Impact
Ginobili produced a gem in limited playing time (19 minutes) Saturday. Granted it took him making every single shot, but it was good to see the beloved Spur have a great game. While he shouldn't be trusted for fantasy purposes, it's good to see the aging veteran do well. His playing time variates too much to be trusted however.
Manu Ginobili will rest on Wednesday against the Lakers.
Fantasy Impact
With Ginobili out, Danny Green, Patty Mills, and Tony Parker will all see a boost in minutes off the bench. Mills is the better DFS option of that bunch.
