The Warriors have announced they have acquired forward Jason Thompson from Philadelphia for Gerald Wallace plus cash and draft considerations. Thompson was traded to Philadelphia only three weeks ago from Sacramento. Thompson had started 60 plus games a year the last three seasons with the Kings.
Fantasy Impact
The 6'11" Thompson will provide rotational depth to the Warriors frontcourt, specifically behind Draymond Green at power forward. Thompson will bring length and solid rebounding, 6.9 per game in his career, to the Golden State bench. Not much value in fantasy leagues unless Green misses time for any reason.
Kings have traded Jason Thompson to the Philadelphia 76ers on Wednesday in order to dump salary.
Fantasy Impact
Jason Thompson was a starter for the Kings for a long time, but the power-forward never panned out the way Sacramento would've liked. Thompson won't have a big role in Philly with Jahlil Okafor, Nerlens Noel, and eventually Joel Embiid clogging up the paint.
JT pulled down 10 rebounds with 16 points, two assists and one steal.
Fantasy Impact
Thompson was a beast on the offensive glass, grabbing seven. The Rockets were very thin in the backcourt and JT took full advantage. He is not a must-own player.
As reported by Marc Spears, Thompson's camp wants him to be traded before the trade deadline. The Kings have been willing to trade Thompson since last year, but no one seems to be interested.
Fantasy Impact
Even IF Thompson is traded, he'd have as much fantasy value as he does now. Zero. Leave him on the wire.
Thompson had his best game of the season with 23 points, 22 rebounds, two assists and one blocked shot.
Fantasy Impact
Without DeMarcus Cousins in the lineup, Thompson had to be Cousins and fill that void. He did an amazing job Saturday night, but the Clippers were too much handing the Kings their 24th loss on the season. Cousins will be back soon, so there is no need to pick up Thompson.
