David West announced earlier on Thursday his retirement from the NBA after 15 seasons. A former first-round draft pick by the Hornets, West quickly started to make his mark with eight straight seasons of 17 plus points per game and seven-plus rebounds. West played for the Hornets, Pacers, Spurs, and finally the Warriors in which he won two NBA Championships. West was one of the more durable stretch four's in the game playing at least 66 games in all but two seasons early on.
Fantasy Impact
West was a solid fantasy option back in his prime with the Pacers and Hornets as he could stretch the floor, post up, and was solid from the foul line. West is certainly a fringe Hall of Famer in my opinion.
David West has been cleared to play against the Kings Friday night after dealing with a cyst on his right arm.
Fantasy Impact
With the Warriors missing so many players, including Kevin Durant, Stephen Curry, and Klay Thompson, West could be leaned on more than usual against the Kings and may even draw a start. West is not a bad DFS option if you're looking for a cheaper forward.
David West has been ruled out for Wednesday's game against Lakers with a right arm cyst.
Fantasy Impact
With both Draymond Green and West out, look for Jordan Bell and Kevon Looney to play major minutes and for both of them to be viable fantasy options especially in daily fantasy formats.
David West has been ruled out for Friday versus the Blazers due to an arm injury. Zaza Pachulia and JaVale McGee will see more minutes.
Fantasy Impact
West is off the fantasy radar and so are Pachulia and McGee except in the deepest of leagues. Draymond Green could have his second triple-double in a row on Friday.
David West was efficient in 14 minutes in Monday's victory over the New York Knicks. He shot 5-for-9 from the field and 1-for-2 from the free throw line. West finished with 11 points, four rebounds, two assists, and one turnover.
Fantasy Impact
West plays well in his limited minutes and can be a decent daily fantasy pick up from time to time. He will always be matchup dependent and could be rested on any given day by Steve Kerr. Also with Jordan Bell back, expect West to a see a slight down turn in minutes.
