Chris Anderson has been traded to the Charlotte Hornets for cash and a protected second round pick. The Cavaliers desperately wanted to deal Anderson and open up a roster spot as he is out for the season with a torn ACL.
Fantasy Impact
Anderson's departure opens up a roster spot for the Cavaliers to go trade for another frontcourt player or a back up point guard. Derrick Williams has shown signs of fantasy relevance and would be a player to keep on your watch list.
Chris Anderson suffered a torn right ACL in practice and will require season-ending surgery. The Cavaliers are now down to only 13 healthy players and only three big men: Channing Frye, Tristan Thompson and Kevin Love. Mo Williams is still on the active roster but is recovering from offseason surgery. Williams could be dealt for a big man in the coming days or prior to the deadline.
Fantasy Impact
It's a boost for Channing Frye the rest of the way but we're not rushing to go grab Frye. Look for the Cavaliers to sign a big or go trade for one at some point before the deadline with Mo Williams likely included in that package.
Chris Anderson has reportedly been traded to the Memphis Grizzlies.
Fantasy Impact
The Grizzlies could certainly use another big man in the rotation after losing Marc Gasol (foot) for the season. Anderson is not a guy who can log heavy minutes anymore but he should come in off the bench and provide some energy on defense in short bursts. This is a solid depth pickup for a Grizzlies team that lacks size down low.
With Hassan Whiteside ruled out for Monday's game with a knee injury, Andersen was put into the Heat starting lineup against the Pacers. However, Andersen still only saw 10 minutes of action in the Heat 103-100 overtime victory. Andersen scored two points with two rebounds, one assist, one steal and one blocked shot.
Fantasy Impact
Whiteside's injury is being reported as minor. Even if Whiteside was ruled out for a longer period of time Andersen's fantasy upside is limited. He should not be picked up in fantasy leagues.
Chris Andersen and Mario Chalmers are on the trade block.
Fantasy Impact
The Heat are trying to shed their contracts, worth a combined $9.3 million in 2015-16, in order to gain the flexibility to sign Dwyane Wade and reshape their roster.
