Rece Hinds optioned to Triple-A Louisville by Reds

The Reds have optioned outfielder Rece Hinds to Triple-A Louisville, the team announced Monday.

Hinds made an explosive MLB debut last summer, crushing five home runs in his first six games, but his production cratered soon after. He struggled mightily to make consistent contact, slashing just .042/.148/.083 with nine strikeouts in his final 27 plate appearances of the 2024 season. Those issues persisted this spring, as he struck out in six of his 14 Cactus League at-bats. Hinds will get regular at-bats in Louisville to refine his approach, but he’ll need to improve his plate discipline before earning another shot with the Reds.
