Placed on the 15-day IL on May 19, Jackson has been shut down from throwing until he is pain-free. The right-hander worked to a 2.50 ERA across 19 appearances prior to hitting the shelf, notching one save in the process.
Zach Jackson recently had an MRI that revealed a right should strain. The plan is to currently have Jackson rest for a week and then begin rehabbing with the hope he can return before the end of the season.

Jackson has had an excellent rookie year, carrying a 3.00 ERA in 54 outings this season. The plan is to hopefully get Jackson back before the end of the season so he can finish out his rookie campaign. A’s manager Mark Kotsay did say that they will err on the side of caution though with the young right-handed.

The 27 year old can possibly be picked up in fantasy soon as he is likely poised to replace Lou Trivino as the teams main closer after Trivino's departure to New York.
