Steven Moya has officially cleared waivers and looks to be headed back to Triple-A Toledo. After a disappointing spring slashing .192/.208/.288, Moya could not grab the open outfield spot on the big league club.
Fantasy Impact
Moya does provide pop as he hit 20 homers in Triple-A last season. A mid-season call up would not be surprising especially with the Tigers outfield in such flux.
Moya went 1-for-4 with his fourth home run of the season in the Tigers 10-3 win against Miami.
Fantasy Impact
Even with Tigers regular right fielder J.D. Martinez still out with an injury Steven Moya has not seen everyday duty in his absence so double check lineups on a nightly basis before starting him in your lineups. He is batting .317 this season with four home runs in 63 at-bats.
Steven Moya was out of the Tigers' lineup this weekend due to soreness in his right knee.
Fantasy Impact
Moya has been impressive in limited opportunities this season. He's been limited by his lack of consistent playing time, and the fact that he's been unable to take a walk, but he should continue to see more time when fully healthy as long as he continues to produce for Detroit.
Steven Moya went 3-for-4 with a pair of HRs and three runs scored in the Tigers' 5-1 win over the Mariners on Wednesday.
Fantasy Impact
Moya continues to produce for Detroit. In limited at-bats, he's provided an OPS of .956 with eight extra-base hits in 53 at-bats. He now has three HRs in his last three games. The concerns with Moya are his inconsistent playing time, and the fact that he strikes out a lot while walking very little.
Steven Moya was recalled from Triple-A and started in left field for the Tigers on Thursday. He went 2-for-4 with a pair of singles and two strikeouts.
Fantasy Impact
Moya was raking in Triple-A, and considering the Tigers' early-season struggles on offense he was added to provide a boost. His addition moved Justin Upton the CF, a position he hasn't manned for some time. It won't help the team defensively, but Moya showed that he can hold his own in the majors with the two hits in his debut. He could be worth monitoring, but his limited plate discipline could lead to extended struggles in the majors. It's also not clear what type of playing time he'll receive. This could largely depend on whether or not Upton can 'handle' CF, as the veteran slugger isn't going to be benched after signing his monster contract with the team this offseason.
