Scott Baker was only able to pitch four innings Saturday night against the Arizona Diamondbacks. He allowed two home runs, four earned run, seven hits, walked one, and struck out two.
Fantasy Impact
These are the types of outings you can expect from time to time. Baker pounds the strike zone but doesn't have explosive stuff. Use only in the most favorable matchups.
Scott Baker gets the nod for Saturday's game against the Arizona Diamondbacks. He will match-up against Jeremy Hellickson.
Fantasy Impact
Baker started Sunday for the Dodgers and pitched a decent game. Although he was attributed with the loss, he only allowed three earned runs in seven innings pitched. Baker doesn't possess electric stuff but will not beat himself. He will pound the zone and rely on his control and change-of-speed. He could be a useful spot-start on Saturday as he's pitching in LA and already has notched one game under his belt.
Because of the injury to Brandon McCarthy, Scott Baker will remain with the major league club and pitch this weekend. Baker pitched a solid seven innings in a loss on Sunday.
Fantasy Impact
Baker doesn't throw hard but won't beat himself. He will pound the strike zone, but whehen he's off it can be brutal as he doesn't have electric stuff. Fastball sits at 90-92 mph. In the right matchup, he could be useful. Keep an eye on who Mattingly matches him up against.
Scott Baker pitched seven innings in a loss to the San Diego Padres. He allowed four hits, three earned runs, two walks, and struck out six. He served up two home runs. 73-of-102 pitches were thrown for strikes.
Fantasy Impact
Scott Baker throws strikes but does not possess over-powering stuff. His fastball is 91 mph but has good movement on his two-seamer and an effective slider. He did strike out Justin Upton three times but had difficulty putting other batters away. He could be a useful fantasy asset later in the season because he won't beat himself but there are questions as to how the rotation will play out in the future.
There was chatter that Joe Wieland would get called up and pitch for the Dodgers on Sunday. Instead, the call will go to veteran right-handed pitcher Scott Baker.
Fantasy Impact
The 33-year-old has bounced around after spending seven years in Minnesota. He sports a career 4.25 ERA, 1.253 WHIP, and a 3.43 K:BB ratio. He underwent Tommy John surgery in 2013. Baker possesses a low-90s fastball, change-up, slider, and knuckle-curve. Most recently, on April 20th, he took a perfect game into the seventh inning for Triple-A Oklahoma City. He could be an attractive spot-start in San Diego and possibly perform as Mike Bolsinger did against the Giants on Thursday.
