The San Francisco Giants have announced they have signed catcher Roberto Perez to a minor-league deal.
Fantasy Impact
As Pavlovic notes, Perez receives $2.5 million if he's on the big-league roster and an additional $1.5 million is available via incentives. Perez's bat has struggled significantly following a breakout 2019 season in which he homered 24 times across 119 games with Cleveland. He hit just .155 with a .530 OPS and 34.7% K% across just 76 games between the 2020 and 2021 seasons before appearing in only 21 games with the Pirates in 2022, albeit to decent results. His defense remains strong, however, as it's certainly possible he ends up as the Giants' backup catcher out of camp.
Announced by the team on Sunday, Roberto Perez has been placed on the 10-day IL.
Fantasy Impact
Perez suffered a strain to his left hamstring, resulting in the two-time Gold Glove backstop being placed on the injured list. In 21 games this season, Perez is batting .233 with two homeruns and 8 RBI.
Roberto Perez went 1-for-4 with an RBI single in Sunday's 5-2 loss to the Padres.
Fantasy Impact
That's back-to-back games with a hit for Perez, who boasts a batting average of .208 and an OPS of .613 on the season. The 33-year-old should not be rostered in fantasy.
Roberto Perez went 1-for-3 with a single and a run scored in Saturday's 7-6 win over the Padres.
Fantasy Impact
Perez came across to score his sixth run of the season for the Pirates on Saturday. The catcher, who's mainly known for his defense, is not a fantasy option despite the position being relatively weak.
Roberto Perez went 1-for-4 with an RBI double and an RBI groundout in Tuesday's 12-8 loss to the Brewers.
Fantasy Impact
Perez, who's hitting .231 with an OPS of .721 to begin the 2022 season, is more known for his defensive prowess, which makes him one of the lower-tier fantasy catchers going forward.
