R.J. Alvarez continued to struggle against the Minnesota Twins in his outing on Wednesday. Alvarez pitched one inning, allowing three runs and striking out two.
Fantasy Impact
Alvarez continues to strike batters out, but he is also giving up too many runs. The game was well out of hand when he entered, but he will need to do a better job limiting the opposition's offense. He now has a 13.00 ERA and 16 strikeouts in nine innings of work.
R.J. Alvarez entered Monday night's game in relief of Jesse Hahn, but was unable to limit the Twins offense. He gave up a two-run home run to Torii Hunter in the sixth inning. He pitched one inning, giving up two hits, two runs, and tallying one strikeout.
Fantasy Impact
Alvarez now has a 11.25 ERA and 14 strikeouts in eight innings of work. He provides good strikeout upside, but needs to do a better job preventing the other team from scoring runs.
R.J. Alvarez struck out two batters in one inning of work during the A's intrasquad game on Saturday.
Fantasy Impact
Alvarez has a good chance of making the team as a reliever this season and could prove valuable at some point this year. He's a hard thrower, had a solid K/BB ratio in the minors and could be the A's closer of the future. At this point he's best left on the waiver wire and is really only of interest in dynasty leagues.
