Reliever Phil Klein was optioned to Triple-A Round Rock and replaced on the roster by Anthony Ranaudo on Friday.

Phil Klein retired all six batters he faced, including two by strikeout, in mopping up the Rangers' 8-0 win over the Mariners Tuesday.

This was only Klein's second appearance of the season, so his fantasy impact is negligible.

After picking up a win in his first major league start his last time out, Phil Klein was most likely looking forward to taking the hill today against the Cleveland Indians. Things did not go well this time out, however, as Klein was battered for six hits and seven runs in just two innings of work.

Fantasy Impact

It was a horrible start for Klein, but fortunately for Rangers fans, Indians starter Shawn Marcum was just as bad as he gave up four hits and seven runs in 2.2 innings. Klein may get one more start, or the Rangers may be able to get him back in the pen where he belongs.

Klein was a "Phil-in" starter for the Rangers, and he came through with flying colors tonight, holding the Boston Red Sox to just five hits and one run over 5.1 innings of work. Klein walked one and struck out four to get the victory.

Fantasy Impact

Klein pitched effectively before running into some trouble in the sixth inning. But don't get too excited--he has virtually no fantasy impact at this point.
