Nick Tepesch is serving as a starter at the moment in the Minnesota Twins rotation and his first outing of the year did not go as planned. Despite only allowing a single earned run, Tepesch was on the mound for seven runs before getting pulled with two outs in the second inning.
Fantasy Impact
Tepesch is a 28-year-old right-hander who is really a placeholder for the pending re-arrival of Jose Berrios into the rotation. Berrios has been pitching well at Triple-A Rochester and could be arriving in Minnesota sooner rather than later, especially if Tepesch struggles in a similar fashion moving forward.
Nick Tepesch continued his very average spring as he allowed four hits and three earned runs over five innings today in the Rangers 15-8 victory over the Los Angeles Angels.
Fantasy Impact
The fifth spot in the rotation is Tepesch's for the taking, but the third-year pro continues to give others a chance with mediocre performances. He only allowed the four hits, and only walked one, but he also only recorded one strikeout in lowering his ERA to an unacceptable 8.56. With just two weeks left until the regular season, the last spot in the rotation is still wide open.
Nick Tepesch allowed five hits and three runs in four innings of work today in the Rangers 11-11 tie with the Los Angeles Dodgers. Tepesch struck out two and walked two on the afternoon.
Fantasy Impact
Tepesch did nothing to give himself a leg up on the competition for the fifth spot in the rotation. After a very rough first outing, Tepesch had rebounded with a nice effort his second time out. However, this was a disappointing outing and will not help him moving forward.
Nick Tepesch bounced back from a rough debut to toss 3 1/3 scoreless innings in the Rangers 7-3 victory over the Chicago White Sox today. Tepesch, who allowed seven runs in 1 1/3 innings last week against the Giants, took the mound in the fourth and surrendered just three hits and a walk.
Fantasy Impact
Tepesch showed much better command with his pitches than last week and it showed in the results. A candidate for the fifth spot in the rotation, Tepesch replaced another candidate for the slot, Anthony Ranaudo, who left his start early with elbow discomfort.
Nick Tepesch became the third straight Rangers starter to not even make it through their scheduled two-inning workload as he lasted just 1 1/3 innings against the Giants today.
Fantasy Impact
Tepesch certainly did nothing to help his case for a spot somewhere on the Rangers pitching staff, tossing 37 pitches in just over an inning of work. He gave up seven hits and seven earned runs, walked one and did not strike out a batter.
