The Chicago White Sox have announced that they will be retiring Mark Buehrle's number.
Fantasy Impact
Buehrle ended his career with 214 wins, a 3.81 ERA, 1.28 WHIP, and 1,870 strikeouts in 3,283.3 innings pitched. Mark was a workhorse for years and was a dependable fantasy asset as well. Congrats on a wonderful career Mark.
Mark Buehrle goes 6 2/3 innings, allowing four runs on six hits, while striking out three. Buehrle currently sits at 15-7 with a 3.82 ERA, and a 1.22 WHIP.
Fantasy Impact
Buehrle currently sits at 198 innings for the year, two short of 200. There is speculation that Buehrle could start the Sunday game, and go two innings in order to reach 200 for the 15th straight season. He has been an absolute workhorse throughout his career, and if this is his last season, it would be fitting that he ends it with 200 innings.
Mark Buehrle pitched well Tuesday, going five innings allowing two runs (one earned) on six hits, while striking out two. Buehrle was lifted after only 66 pitches in favor of a pinch hitter, as his spot in the order came up.
Fantasy Impact
Although Buehrle only went five innings, it was a nice turnaround from his last start that saw him last just three innings in his shortest outing of the season. Any questions about the rotation have been addressed with Drew Hutchison moving to the bullpen, which means Buehrle should take the mound on his regular schedule.
Mark Buehrle lasted just 3 1/3 innings Monday, allowing five runs on nine hits for his seventh loss of the season.
Fantasy Impact
The Red Sox jumped all over Buehrle in the early going, putting the Jays in an early hole which they could not recover from. The bullpen didn't fare much better, allowing six runs in relief. Buehrle now sits at 14-7 with a 3.72 ERA, and will take on the Yankees on the road in his next start in what will be one of the most important series of the season.
Mark Buehrle wasn't his normal self Tuesday, surrendering five runs on seven hits, including two home runs. Buehrle left too many pitches up in the zone in an uncharacteristic outing. The Jays managed to put two across in the ninth to take the lead, and eventual win.
Fantasy Impact
Buehrle has had back-to-back bad outings after putting together 13 straight games with three or less runs. He remains 13-6 on the year with a respectable 3.60 ERA and a 1.18 WHIP. Buehrle will get the Detroit Tigers at home in his next start.
