Kyle Lobstein has been traded to the Baltimore Orioles for minor league pitcher Zach Phillips.

On the year Lobstein is 2-0 with a 3.96 ERA in 25 innings pitched this season. The Orioles are looking to improve their pitching staff whichever way they can. Acquiring Lobstein is one way to do that. Fantasy wise, Lobstein has little to no value.

Lobstein, like most of Detroit's rotation, is just not starting-calibre in the Major Leagues. There is no reason that he should be owned in any league, and he certainly cannot be trusted in daily leagues.

Lobstein had thrown 28 innings in his last four starts, so the two and one-thirds is a bit of a disappointment for fantasy owners looking to ride the streak. The hits and runs should not have come as a surprise.

Kyle Lobstein needed help from his defense, but got his 3rd win of the year in a 4-1 win over the White Sox. He threw 3 Ks in 7.2 innings while surrendering a single unearned run.

Fantasy Impact

He has pitched excellently in reserve for Justin Verlander. With the recent news that Verlander has begun throwing it won't be long until Lobstein heads back to triple-A Toledo. He's not going to get a lot of strikeouts, but he has kept hitters off balance.

Kyle Lobstein was dealt his second loss of the season on Friday against the Royals. Lobstein allowed 4 runs on 10 hits over 7 1/3 innings.

Fantasy Impact

Lobstein only managed to strike out two batters while issuing one free pass. Lobstein has done a fairly respectable job filling in for the injured Justin Verlander, but at this point, especially with the low strikeout numbers, Lobstein doesn't have much value in fantasy leagues. Lobstein will look to get back on track when he takes on the White Sox in Chicago on Thursday.
