Kevin Jepsen signs with Rays

Following his release from the Twins, Kevin Jepsen signed a one-year deal with the Rays.

Fantasy Impact

Jepsen pitched with the Rays as recently as last season, and he's been a solid contributor out of the bullpen despite his struggles in 2016. Given the nature of the Rays' bullpen, and the fact that they have several arms that could be moved prior to the trade deadline, Jepsen could surprisingly return to a position of fantasy value later in the summer. However, at this point he's not likely to be especially productive given when he'll be pitching.

Kevin Jepsen has been released

The Minnesota Twins have released former closer Kevin Jepsen.

Fantasy Impact

After recording a 6.16 ERA the Twins have decided to let their former closer walk. Any hope that a fantasy owner had in Jepsen regaining the closer role has officially be demolished. Jepsen has no fantasy value left. You should release him as well.

Kevin Jepsen earns fourth save

Kevin Jepsen earned his fourth save of the season in Wednesday's win over the Royals.

Fantasy Impact

Jepsen does hold some value considering he's a closer for one of 30 MLB teams. Still, his ratios haven't been helpful, and his save opportunities have been few and far between. The things Jepsen has going for him is position scarcity and the fact that Glen Perkins, the closer he replaced, has no clear time frame in his return from injury.

Kevin Jepsen to remain the closer for Minnesota

Paul Molitor has reaffirmed that Kevin Jepsen will remain the Twins closer for the time being.

Fantasy Impact

Even after blowing back-to-back saves Twins manager Paul Molitor has reaffirmed that Jepsen will remain the teams closer. This is good news if you picked him up off the waiver but if his shaky play continues, expect the Twins to turn to Trevor May next.

Kevin Jepsen picks up third save of the year

Kevin Jepsen retired the only three Rays he saw last night to close out the game, striking out one.

Fantasy Impact

Jepsen will be valuable in the saves department as long as Glen Perkins is injured, which will likely be a few more days. Even after that, he's a pretty good relief option as a setup man, sporting a 2.41 ERA and 7.5 strikeouts per nine innings in 60 appearances.
