Jung Ho Kang has been suspended one year from the Korean Baseball Organization.
Fantasy Impact
Kang faced a possible suspension of up to three years for his three drunk driving cases. The KBO ultimately decided to suspend Kang for one year in addition to 300 hours of community service. The suspension will begin once Kang officially signs with a KBO team. Since Kang wasn't a free agent when he left the KBO, the Nexen Heroes still hold their reserve right to Kang. "The Heroes must agree to activate Kang from the voluntarily retired list, but Kang has yet to contact the Heroes about a potential return." The 33-year-old slashed .169/.222/.395 with 10 homers, 24 RBI and 15 runs scored across 185 plate appearances for the Pirates in 2019.
Jung Ho-Kang asked the Korean Baseball Organization to remove him from the “voluntarily retired” list.
Fantasy Impact
Kang faces a three-year suspension after being charged with three DUIs in 2016. He was put on voluntarily retired list by the KBO Team Heroes in 2015. The 36-year-old’s playing days in MLB are likely over, but is trying to make a comeback in the Korean Baseball Organization. It remains to be seen if the suspension will be lifted as the organization reviews his case.
Jung Ho Kang went 1-for-2 with a two-run home run Monday against the Cardinals.
Fantasy Impact
Kang entered the game as a pinch hitter in the eighth, and blasted a two-run home run in his second at-bat in the 10th. Kang has three homers in his last nine games, but is batting .183 on the season, and doesn't get consistent playing time.
Jung Ho Kang went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Saturday's loss to the Cubs.
Fantasy Impact
Kang's homer off Jon Lester accounted for the Pirates' first run of the day, after falling behind 10-0 after four. Kang has flashed some power lately, but is batting .179 with intermittent playing time. He's a far cry from fantasy relevance.
Jung Ho Kang went 1-for-3 with a game-tying solo home run Friday against the Brewers.
Fantasy Impact
Kang entered the game as a pinch hitter, and came to deliver a huge hit for the Pirates, but they were unable to surge ahead. That's a three-game hitting streak for Kang, who sees intermittent playing time at third base and shortstop. Still, he's batting .173 with a 30% strikeout rate.
