John Lackey plans to pitch in 2018

Free agent starter John Lackey is planning to pitch in 2018 sources tell Jon Heyman of FanRag Sports.

Fantasy Impact

It's unclear if the Cubs will have interest in bringing back the 39-year-old. Lackey posted a 4.59 ERA in 170 2/3 innings last year. By the end of the season he was pitching out of long relief. Wherever he winds up he will be well off the fantasy radar.

John Lackey on NLDS roster

John Lackey was included on the NLDS roster to potentially pitch out of the bullpen. The surprising corresponding absence was Hector Rondon.

Fantasy Impact

This may be Lackey's last hurrah and he does bring experience. Perhaps the bigger question fans might have is why Justin Wilson is there instead of Rondon. Either way, the move has been made so now it is time to see what happens.

John Lackey allows one run Wednesday versus St Louis

John Lackey went six innings allowing one run as he won his 12th game and will likely end the regular season with a winning run.

Fantasy Impact

He was more positive than negative in the second half. If this is his last regular season, then he went out on a good note.
