The deal includes an invitation to spring training so the team can determine if Danks has anything left in the tank. The way the Braves are set up now, they will inch near the .500 mark in 2017 and with the upgrades the team has made with the starting pitching it seems very unlikely that Danks will crack the starting rotation. But if he does show something in spring he could be used as a long-reliever out of the bullpen.
Fantasy Impact
Danks has not been the same since injuring his shoulder and the subsequent surgery in 2012. Not much to see here or get excited about in the fantasy world.
John Danks was designated for assignment by the Chicago White Sox onTuesday.
Fantasy Impact
Danks is in the final year of his 5yr/$65M deal. John is at best a DFS or stream play, so there is not much relavance fantasy wise. It will be interesting to see who takes his spot in the White Sox rotation.
John Danks gave up three earned runs, on four hits including a home run, over 2.0 innings.
Fantasy Impact
John Danks got hit hard in his first spring start. With the White Sox adding veteran Mat Latos, Jacob Turner and youngster Erik Johnson in the mix, it's possible, If Danks continues to struggle, he could start the season in the bullpen. John Danks should be avoided in all formats.
John Danks threw a complete game giving up one run. He allowed seven hits while walking one and striking out five.
Fantasy Impact
Danks is not a very good fantasy pitcher. Enjoy this performance if you happened to start him but most of the time he should only be used in deep leagues.
John Danks has struggled greatly over the last couple of seasons after overcoming injury. He has shown to be improving in recent starts, including the 2-0 victory over Kansas City on Friday. The left-hander threw six scoreless innings.
Fantasy Impact
Danks poses little trade value with his bloated contract, but if the White Sox were to incur some of the money, he could be a back of the line starter for a contender.
