The veteran Peralta, thrust into being the de facto 8th inning man due to the injuries to Joaquin Benoit and Tony Zych, has served capably, and pitched a scoreless inning in Monday's win.
Fantasy Impact
Peralta has less than overwhelming stuff, and has toed the line of effectiveness this season, but he is the man in the position for a number of holds for this team right now. With Seattle's pitcher-friendly home field and strong defensive play so far this season, if you need holds desperately, Peralta will be in line for them until Benoit returns.
The veteran reliever allowed a home run to tie the ballgame in the eighth inning, the second occurrence of this sort on the homestand.
Fantasy Impact
Peralta should not be near your fantasy rosters, but his struggles are worth taking note of as, if they continue, they may harm the productivity of more fantasy-relevant Mariners.
The 40-year-old journeyman reliever notched a scoreless inning of relief for the Mariners on Tuesday night.
Fantasy Impact
Peralta debuted in the MLB in 2005 at age 29, meaning he has spent most of his career as an old middle reliever. He continues to be that, having recorded just fifteen saves in his eleven year career. and, while potentially valuable to a major league team, Peralta will likely have very little role as a fantasy player in 2016.
Joel Peralta was officially placed on the 15-day disabled list Sunday. He has been experiencing "dead arm" with no strength in the shoulder.
Fantasy Impact
The Dodgers bullpen has been a musical chair of closers. The most likely candidates to fill the role until Kenley Jansen returns are Yimi Garcia and Chris Hatcher. I would pick up Garcia as he has been filthy so far and was impressive in his only save opportunity.
Joel Peralta said he has no pain but no strength in his shoulder. "Dead arm" is how he described it. A DL stint is a possibility but nothing has been determined yet.
Fantasy Impact
This news makes sense as Peralta was uncharacteristically wild last outing. The Dodgers will probably send him to the DL as they are reportedly calling up Sergio Santos. Yimi Garcia has been dominant and looked very impressive in his first save chance. He has the opportunity to lock down the role until Kenley comes back.
