Toronto Blue Jays pitcher Joakim Soria (finger) was placed on the 10-day injured list Wednesday with right middle finger inflammation.
Fantasy Impact
Soria was acquired from the Arizona Diamondbacks at the MLB trade deadline. He made his debut on Monday but is dealing with a finger issue and was placed on the injured list. The severity of his injury is unknown at this time and he will miss at least the next 10 days. Soria will be eligible to come off the injured list on August 13. Taylor Saucedo was recalled from Triple-A Buffalo in a corresponding move.
The Blue Jays acquired RHP Joakim Soria from the Arizona Diamondbacks.
Fantasy Impact
Soria won't close with the Jays, but he'll provide valuable bullpen depth down the stretch. This move kills any fantasy value he had while earning saves with Arizona.
RHP Joakim Soria worked a scoreless ninth inning, picking up a strikeout, in the Diamondbacks' 6-4 win over the Pittsburgh Pirates on Wednesday.
Fantasy Impact
Soria got the job done on Wednesday, retiring all three batters he faced in order while preserving the win for Arizona. He's now 6-for-7 on save opportunities since July 1. The veteran reliever now owns a 4.45 ERA, 1.34 WHIP, and 29:8 K/BB ratio over 28 1/3 innings on the season. There's a chance he could shipped off at the trade deadline but he's a decent add if you're in need of saves.
RHP Joakim Soria earned the save on Monday when he scattered a pair of hits with two strikeouts over one inning in the D-Backs' 4-2 win over the Pirates.
Fantasy Impact
Soria worked his way around a pair of singles in the ninth inning and was able to secure his fifth save of the year for the D-Backs. He's been up and down as evidenced by his 4.61 ERA, 1.39 WHIP, and 28:8 K/BB ratio over 27 1/3 innings but he's the undisputed closer in the desert and that makes him fantasy relevant.
RHP Joakim Soria earned the save on Sunday when he came on in relief of starter Merrill Kelly in the ninth inning. He allowed one hit and struck out two over one inning in the D-Backs' 6-4 win over the Cubs.
Fantasy Impact
Starter Merrill Kelly was rolling on Sunday, going all the way into the ninth inning before running into some trouble. Kelly allowed a double and an RBI single to start things off in the ninth before Soria came to the rescue. The veteran reliever did allow an RBI double to Rafael Ortega but the run was charged to Kelly. He was flawless other than that and winded up earning the save. This was a much-needed bounce back from Soria who blew his last save opportunity. He now owns a 4.78 ERA, 1.37 WHIP, and 26:8 K/BB ratio over 26 1/3 innings.
