Mets outfielder Jarrett Parker went 2-for-3 with a solo home run in Thursday's Spring Training game against the St. Louis Cardinals. The homer was his second of the Spring.
Fantasy Impact
Parker does not have much of a shot at making the 26-man roster out of camp, but he had a strong season in the Angels' Triple-A affiliate in 2019 and could be a valuable bench bat for the Mets at some point this season.
The Giants' starting left fielder from last year was designated for assignment Monday. The Giants had one of the worst outfields in baseball last year, both offensively and defensively. Adding Andrew McCutchen, Austin Jackson, and Gregor Blanco has left few spots left. Hunter Pence will start in left, and rookie Steven Duggar impressed in spring as did hold-over Gorkys Hernandez.
Fantasy Impact
Jarrett Parker hopes to get picked up by another team, but it should not be your fantasy team.
Jarrett Parker still has the inside track on being the Giants' 4th or 5th outfielder and Wednesday he showed why. After a poor showing in previous spring games, Parker went 2-for-4 with a HR. He raised his average to .231. But as a lefty power bat who can play both corner outfield spots, he has a good track for a bench spot. The Giants could write off the 29-year-old, but as likely the oldest team in the major leagues on opening day, Parker fits right in.
Fantasy Impact
Parker is not a starter, barring injury, and not someone you need on your fantasy team.
Jarrett Parker is trying to make the Giants as a 4th outfielder this year. His spring debut Saturday, he went 0-for-4, with three strikeouts and an error.
Fantasy Impact
Parker best be avoided this year.
Jarrett Parker crashed into the outfield wall Saturday and broke his right collarbone after making a great catch against the Colorado Rockies.
Fantasy Impact
It's an unfortunate injury for Parker who is looking to play his way into more playing time with the big league club after appearing in 63 games last season. Aaron Hill came in as his replacement, but neither are worth owning for fantasy purposes.
