The Dodgers have optioned Hyeseong Kim to Triple-A Oklahoma City.
Fantasy Impact
Kim is known as a plus defender, but he has struggled to adjust at the plate and will look to refine his swing in Triple-A. Fantasy managers should expect to see Kim on the Dodgers' roster at some point this season.
Hyeseong Kim could start the 2025 season at Triple-A as he continues to make swing adjustments, Jack Harris of The Los Angeles Times reports.
Fantasy Impact
While Kim has earned praise for his infield defense, his offensive game remains a work in progress. Even during his time in the KBO, he was not known for power, never surpassing 11 home runs in a season. Given the Dodgers' infield depth, they may opt to let Kim adjust to professional pitching in the minors rather than rushing him into a major league role. If that happens, Los Angeles could rely on Tommy Edman’s versatility to cover second base or shortstop while Andy Pages potentially secures a regular role in the outfield.
Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said Hyeseong Kim will play second base, shortstop and center field in spring training action.
Fantasy Impact
Kim played in left field and right field during his Korean career but never center field. He figures to play all over the field over the next month, and that could continue into the regular season.
The Dodgers signed Hyeseong Kim to a three-year, $12.5 million contract.
Fantasy Impact
The deal also includes a two-year option for the 2028-29 seasons. Kim is slated to fill-in a role in the middle infield for the Dodgers.
