Hunter Pence announced his retirement from baseball.
Fantasy Impact
The 37-year-old was released by the Giants earlier this summer. Pence was a part of two World Series wins with the organization and made four All-Star teams during his 14-year career. A perennial fan favorite, it'll be interesting to see if Pence finds another job within the sport.
Hunter Pence has been DFA'd by the San Francisco Giants as they continue to build a youth movement in the Bay.
Fantasy Impact
Pence had really struggled to start the year with .096 batting-average and a .411 OPS in 52 at-bats. The move will clear a playing time path for younger players on the roster as the Giants continue to rebuild.
Hunter Pence isn’t in the lineup for Monday’s game against the Angels.
Fantasy Impact
Pence will come off the bench for the second consecutive game. He has been ice cold at the plate, collecting one hit in his last 13 at-bats. Marcio Dubon will replace him in the lineup.
Hunter Pence went 0-for-4 with two strikeouts on Friday.
Fantasy Impact
Pence is not up to 21 at-bats on the season without a hit. At this point, it has to be affecting the mental aspect of the game, especially in such a short season. Hard to trust him on a fantasy team moving forward.
Hunter Pence went hitless in four at bats as the Giants fell to the Dodgers 8-1 on Thursday.
Fantasy Impact
Pence hit fifth and was the team's designate hitter in this one. He had been dealing with a foot injury entering the start of the regular season but should be good to go moving forward.
