Ford, the No. 2 prospect in the Mariners organization, has only played catcher defensively since being selected in the first round in 2021. With Cal Raleigh having established himself behind the plate for Seattle, it appears they just want to test him out at other positions.

A 2021 first-round pick, Ford will see his first taste of big-league action early in the spring for the Mariners before being sent to minor-league spring training. It won't be long until he is at big-league camp competing for an Opening Day roster spot.
