For the second time in three days, Ezequiel Carrera hit a home run off Francis Martes in the ninth inning of a blowout loss to the Astros.
Fantasy Impact
He did not start in either game. Carrera will head into the All-Star break slashing .285/.351/.419, and if Toronto's offensive struggles continue, perhaps he'll see a bit more playing time in the second half.
With Josh Donaldson back from the disabled list, Ezequiel Carrera was dropped to ninth in the batting order, where he went 0-for-3 with two strikeouts.
Fantasy Impact
Carrera had been hitting second, but that experiment has mercifully ended with Donaldson's return. A drop in the batting order was long overdue for Carrera, who has just two hits in his last 30 at-bats. A decline in playing time could be next.
Ezequiel Carrera received his second consecutive start and responded by going 3-for-5 with a home run against the Indians on Wednesday.
Fantasy Impact
Carrera could be in line for more playing time with the Blue Jays' rash of injuries, particularly if Kendrys Morales is unable to avoid the DL. There's little in Carrera's minor or major league track record to suggest he'll be of use in 10- or 12-team mixed leagues, but as long as he's hitting second in the order he could provide deep leaguers with a decent number of runs and steals alongside a serviceable batting average.
Ezequiel Carrera went 2-for-4 on Monday against the Angels.
Fantasy Impact
Carrera has five hits in his last eight at-bats, and has quietly raised his average to .311 for the season. He's been batting second against right-handers with Josh Donaldson on the DL, which isn't a bad place to be, but Carrera isn't playing everyday and just doesn't provide enough category juice to move the needle for fantasy owners in standard leagues.
Ezequiel Carrera will bat leadoff against right-hander Kevin Gausman and the Orioles on Thursday. Devon Travis has been dropped to the ninth spot in the order.
Fantasy Impact
Carrera has only received 12 at-bats so far this season, collecting three hits but will get the start in the leadoff spot on Thursday with Travis (.097 average) struggling at the plate. Carrera could be an interesting cheap DFS option.
