Dilson Herrera swats solo shot on Saturday

Dilson Herrera started in left field on Saturday and finished 1-for-2 with a solo home run and a walk in a Reds 7-1 victory over the Giants.

Fantasy Impact

Herrera took Giants starter Madison Bumgarner deep in the sixth inning for his third round tripper of the year. While it's nice to see, he has only batted a paltry .154 in the month of August and .188 overall on the campaign. Herrera is not close to being a factor in fantasy leagues.

Dilson Herrera sent to minors camp

Reds 2B Dilson Herrera has been reassigned to the club's minor league camp.

Fantasy Impact

This cut was expected. Herrera is likely to start the season in AAA Louisville where he will receive ample playing time and at bats, rather than wasting away on the Reds bench. He is poised to be the Reds 2B of the future, once Zack Cozart has parted.

Dilson Herrera off to hot start

In six games this spring, Herrera has a stratospheric OPS of 1.397.

Fantasy Impact

Herrera still has not played in the field this spring, as he nurses a minor shoulder injury. He has been cleared to throw but there is no word on when he will play a game in the field. Herrera will likely start the year in AAA Louisville where he can have regular at-bats, but should make it to the big club at some point in 2017, and could be an interesting fantasy prospect with his combined hitting and speed.

Dilson Herrera to skip WBC

Reds infielder Dilson Herrera will skip out on the World Baseball Classic. He had been slated to play for Colombia.

Fantasy Impact

Herrera will instead stay in Arizona with the Reds. He will most likely begin the season in AAA earning every day reps at 2B until he gets his shot.

Dilson Herrera goes 3-for-3 with a HR and 3 RBI

Herrera hit his first HR of the season in the Mets 5-1 win over the Orioles last night. Since his call up from Triple-A Las Vegas last Friday, Herrera was off to a 1-for-13 start before last night's breakout.

Fantasy Impact

Herrera is one of the Mets' top prospects, but is currently blocked by Daniel Murphy at second base. Herrera was called up as a result of the David Wright injury and Eric Campbell's option back to Triple-A (Murphy has been moved over to third during Wright's recovery). While Herrera's fantasy value is currently only relevant in the deepest of mixed leagues, NL-only leagues and dynasty leagues, he should be on all owners' radars. If the Mets move Daniel Murphy in a deal for a SS or bullpen help, Herrera will gain immediate impact fantasy value in all formats.
