Delmon Young designated for assignment

Delmon Young was designated for assignment Wednesday by the Baltimore Orioles, who needed the roster spot to fortify their thin bullpen. Young signed a one-year, $2.25 million deal during the offseason after batting .302 with seven homers and 30 RBIs in 83 games in 2014. He also delivered a clutch three-run double to give the Orioles a win over Detroit in the postseason. Within 10 days, the Orioles must place Young on waivers, trade him, release him or outright him to the minor leagues

Fantasy Impact

Young was batting .270 with two homers and 16 RBIs this season after being crowded out of the outfield by Chris Davis, Chris Parmelee, Travis Snider and Nolan Reimold. Young hasn't been what the Orioles hoped he would be, he has struggled at the plate and hasn't been able to get going. Young was the guy who made a highlight reel catch robbing A-Rod. Young has had a tough season and the power has not been there, his struggles had brought the O's down and had killed a lot of their momentum. It'll be interesting to see what the Orioles will do with Young.

Delmon Young trying to get his season back on track

The Orioles lost the Astros 3-1 on Wednesday. In the game Delmon Young, drove a singled and knocked in Adam Jones. While it was run for the O's, it was also 14th RBI of the season.

Fantasy Impact

Young has lacked power this season, going 38 games without a home run. Young is hitting .308 in 130 at bats, with two home runs, and 14 RBI. He has struggled this season to produce for the Orioles offensively, and has really only been a solid defensive guy for them this season. Young made the highlight reel catch to rob A-Rod of his 661 home-run back in early May, Young's power stroke might be foreshadowing for what he could turn into. As of right now I would steer clear of Young seeing as he has not be consistent this season. But if he does start to produce, then he would be a solid depth guy that a team could add as a bench player down the stretch.

Delmon Young breaks his drought

The Orioles lost to the Marlins 9-5 on Sunday. For two teams that have struggled to produce runs this season, it was a very offensive game. The game saw Delmon Young finally break through and hit two home runs.

Fantasy Impact

Young has lacked power this season, going 34 games without a home run. Young is hitting .303 in 119 at bats, with two home runs, and 13 RBI. He has struggled this season to produce for the Orioles offensively, and has really only been a solid defensive guy for them this season. Young made the highlight reel catch to rob A-Rod of his 661 home-run back in early May, Young's power stroke might be foreshadowing for what he could turn into. Hitting two home runs is a pretty big deal for a guy who has struggled this entire season to hit for power. It'll be interesting to see how Young reacts to this game going forward, this could translate into more production and more confidence. As of right now I would steer clear of Young seeing as he has not be consistent this season. But if he does start to produce, then he would be a solid depth guy that a team could add as a bench player down the stretch.

Delmon Young not bringing in the home runs

Baltimore Orioles outfielder Delmon Young seems to be hanging on by a thread. He had a break on Wednesday since he wasn't in the line-up. He went 2-for-4 in Game one on Thursday's double header against the Chicago White Sox.

Fantasy Impact

Young has not hit any home runs this season. His season batting average is .295 with 11 RBIs. He has started in the outfield for 23 games and has batted fourth or fifth for 18 games (CAMDEN CHAT). It appears that he needs to be designated also.

Delmon Young looking to get season on track after highlight reel catch

On Thursday night Delmon young made a highlight reel catch robbing Alex Rodriguez of home-run 661. Although A-Rod would get home-run 661 later in the game, this catch was a huge confidence booster for Young who has struggled recently at the plate, and defensively.

Fantasy Impact

So what does this mean for Young? After a catch like that his confidence will be through the roof. It has been all over all major sports media outlets and should translate into more confidence at the plate and in right field. He is the perfect buy low candidate who has seven RBI's this year and no home-runs. He is the perfect candidate to buy low he is very little risk and will be high reward if he can take his 15 minutes of fame and turn it into a years worth of success.
