Ken Rosental reports that the Toronto Blue Jays have signed outfielder Dayan Viciedo to a minor league deal
Fantasy Impact
With Michael Saunders out for four to six weeks, expect Viciedo to fight for an every day role to replace the hole in left field for the Blue Jays. Viciedo has a career .381/.422/.738 batting line at the Rogers Centre in 45 plate apperances. He struggled to a .686 OPS in 2014, but could be rejuveniated in the powerful Blue Jays lineup.
The White Sox parted ways with Dayan Viciedo on Wednesday. The White Sox were trying to find a trade partner, but after struggling for a few months they decided to release him to waivers.
Fantasy Impact
Dayan Viciedo is relatively young at the age of 25. He has showed he has power, but struggled to hit consistently. I am sure another club will sign him at some point, but he will have very little, if any, fantasy value heading into the draft.
The White Sox and Dayan Viciedo agree to a one-year, $4.4 million dollar contract; avoiding arbitration. Viciedo under performed last season. With the signing of Melky Cabrera, Viciedo is nothing more than a bench player; if he even makes the final roster. With the decline in Viciedo's hitting, he is also a liability in the field.
Fantasy Impact
Viciedo was expected to be better at the plate last year. Even though Viciedo improved his power numbers from the previous year, his other averages declined. Now that Cabrera is on the team, Viciedo will have many less at bats. Viciedo has little to no fantasy draft value unless he finds his way onto another team before the season starts, which is still a possibility.
