Chris Rodriguez (shoulder) threw live batting practice Tuesday.
Fantasy Impact
Rodriguez participated in his first live action since 2021 and will look to continue to progress for an Angels club looking for options for a pitching staff facing immense pressure ahead of the 2023 season.
Los Angeles Angels pitcher Chris Rodriguez will face live hitters this week as he works his way back from shoulder surgery.
Fantasy Impact
Rodriguez underwent surgery to repair a torn capsule in his throwing shoulder prior to last season and he ended up missing the entire campaign as a result. The 24-year-old posted a quality 3.64 ERA across 15 appearances (two starts) for the Angels in 2021 at the age of 2022 and is in competition for the final spot in the club's rotation this spring. Considering the long layoff, it's most likely he begins the season in the minors before contributing to the big club later in the season.
Chris Rodriguez went four innings, allowed six hits, one earned run, and struck out two on Tuesday.
Fantasy Impact
Rodriguez has done very well when he is on the mound. The main issue for fantasy purposes is that he needs to go deeper into games. However, the 23 year old owns a 3.64 ERA and should be owned in deeper leagues as a wait and see guy.
Chris Rodriguez went six innings, allowed four hits, three earned runs, and struck out seven in Monday’s 2-1 loss to Texas.
Fantasy Impact
Rodriguez has looked solid since his return from the IL. He now owns a 3.86 ERA, and will likely see at least another opportunity to start this weekend.
Angels' RP Chris Rodriguez gave up one earned run on three hits and one strikeout over 1.1 innings pitched on Monday.
Fantasy Impact
Monday marked C-Rod's first appearance for the Angels since May 5th, and besides a hard-hit double, he looked pretty sharp coming out of the bullpen. Rodriguez now sports a 2.65 ERA and a 1.18 WHIP on the year, and he'll look to find his touch on the mound as he gets back into form for the Halos.
