Chris Carter was designated for assignment by the New York Yankees on Friday. Tyler Austin will be recalled from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre to take his place on the roster.
Fantasy Impact
Carter has good power but has had his troubles making contact, as evidenced by his .208 batting average. More playing time opened up for Carter earlier in the season when Greg Bird struggled and then got injured, but he was unable to provide consistent production to capitalize on the opportunity. There is a decent chance that Carter catches on with a new team in the next few days, though it will most likely be as a bat off the bench.
Chris Carter went 0-for-3 and in the Yankees 8-3 loss to the Angels on Tuesday night. He struck out once and left two men on base.
Fantasy Impact
Carter has looked terrible at the plate and in the field and his batting average sits at .201. He was hitting in the 9-hole Tuesday as the Yankees await the on return of Greg Bird.
Chris Carter went 3-for-4 with four RBI's as the Yankees pummeled the Red Sox 8-0 Wednesday night. His three-run homer in the fourth inning put the Yanks ahead 5-0 and essentially put the game away.
Fantasy Impact
While Carter has heated up a bit and flashed some power, he is still straddling the Mendoza line. Greg Bird is getting healthy so Carter's time at 1B is about to decline.
Chris Carter homered for the second consecutive night, bringing his season tally to four. The solo shot extended the Yankees lead to 2-0 in the fifth inning.
Fantasy Impact
While Carter has not gotten off to a great start, he does have plenty of power. He is coming off a 41 home run 2016, so this could be the beginning of a power streak that would warrant considering Carter as a sneaky DFS play.
Chris Carter went 3-for-4 with two runs scored and two runs batted in. His two-run homer in the top of the fourth inning was his second of the year.
Fantasy Impact
Carter has only knocked in ten runs to go with his two home runs and .232 BA this year. The average is less of a shock than the low power stats, but Carter has not given owners any fantasy production to date.
