McGehee batted second in the Tigers lineup and went 4-for-5 including a double in the Tigers 2-0 win.
Fantasy Impact
The 33-year-old veteran McGehee will likely be the Tigers third baseman for the foreseeable future while Nick Castellanos recovers from his fractured thumb. He is a career .259 hitter with 67 home runs in his eighth season.
Veteran Casey McGehee has signed with the Tigers to compete for a roster spot during spring training.
Fantasy Impact
This is, at best, a depth move for the aging Tigers. Do not invest much attention to this move as it is irrelevant in the fantasy baseball world.
Miami Marlins infielder Casey McGehee has finally started to cede playing time to Justin Bour and Derek Dietrich. McGehee is in the midst of a horrible .209/.276/.297 season.
Fantasy Impact
He's hitting an even .200 as a Marlin this season after starting the year with the Giants. Bour and Dietrich are second and third on the team in home runs but were being inexplicably benched in favor of McGehee for a while. Anyone still holding onto McGehee hoping for him to recapture last year's magic needs to let go and fill that roster spot with someone else.
The Giants optioned Casey McGehee to AAA Sacramento, which he accepted. Matt Duffy is now the Giants' starter at third.
Fantasy Impact
McGehee has been dreadful this season. We'll see if a stint against AAA pitching gets him back to form. Unless things change drastically, McGehee may never be fantasy relevant again.
Casey McGehee has been collecting splinters sitting on the bench lately. Mostly due to his ineffective .198 average. Tonight he finally made a dent into why the Giants made him their starting third baseman. In the bottom of the second inning, Buster Posey led off with a single, Brandon Belt then doubled and moved Posey to third, and the following batter Justin Maxwell walked to load the bases. After Brandon Crawford struck out, McGehee then took over as he drilled the four-seam fastball with 1-3 count into center field for a grand slam home run off pitcher Jarred Cosart.
Fantasy Impact
Casey McGehee won't get many home runs this season, and as things were going, he was making his last stand to remain in the starting lineup. I wouldn't put McGehee on your radar just yet, but he is a blip that can come into focus if he starts to get hot.
