The Houston Astros have signed relief pitcher Bryan Garcia to a minor-league deal.
Fantasy Impact
Garcia has spent his entire career so far in the Detroit Tigers organization, reaching the big leagues in each of the last four seasons with the club. Over 76 career appearances, all but four of which came out of the bullpen, Garcia owns a career 5.52 ERA and minuscule 8.3% K-BB% across 20 1/3 innings of work. He made all four of his appearances as a starter in 2022 but also worked as the team's closer late in the 2020 season as he has locked down six career saves as well.
Bryan Garcia allowed three runs on five hits over 6 2/3 innings in a 4-3 win over the Mariners on Monday. Garcia earned the win while striking out six and walking two.
Fantasy Impact
Garcia was recalled earlier in the day on Monday from Triple-A Toledo to make the start. He finishes his 2022 season with a 2-0 record, 3.54 ERA, 1.18 WHIP, and 17 strikeouts over 20 1/3 innings of work.
Bryan Garcia allowed three runs on five hits over six innings in a 7-5 win in the second game of a doubleheader against the Guardians on Monday. Garcia picked up the win while striking out five and walking none.

Garcia earned his first win of the season while notching eight swinging strikes against the Cleveland lineup. He did serve up two homers in the start. Garcia now has a 1-0 record, 3.29 ERA, 1.24 WHIP, and 11 strikeouts over 13 2/3 innings. He is likely headed to the bullpen or back to Triple-A with Eduardo Rodriguez expected to return next week.
Bryan Garcia threw four shutout innings in a 5-3 loss to the Rays on Friday. Garcia allowed one hit while striking out three and walking six. He wound up taking a no-decision in the start.
Fantasy Impact
Garcia pitched well aside from the six walks. The veteran hurler really struggled with his command, throwing just 36 of 72 pitches for strikes. Garcia has now made two starts for Detroit in 2022, allowing two runs over 7 2/3 innings of work.
Bryan Garcia allowed two runs on three hits over 3 2/3 innings in a 4-2 win over the Blue Jays on Friday. Garcia struck out three and walked two while taking a no-decision.
Fantasy Impact
Garcia made his first appearance for the Tigers all season but it was a short stay in Detroit as he was optioned back to Triple-A after the game. He appeared in 39 games for Detroit in 2021, posting a 7.55 ERA.
