Zimmermann underwent core muscle surgery on Oct. 19 and told Melewski that he is already in Florida working out and expects to be a full go for spring training. The 28-year-old southpaw pitched in just seven games with the Orioles in 2023, posting a 4.73 ERA in that time. He spent most of the season at Triple-A, tossing a 4.42 ERA across 21 outings, all of which were starts. He will compete for a left-handed bullpen role in the spring.

Bruce Zimmermann (2-5) allowed six earned runs on 11 hits over 4 2/3 innings Wednesday versus the Blue Jays resulting in a no-decision 6-7 loss. The left-hander struck out two and yielded zero walks in the 80-pitch outing.

Zimmermann's night ended with a 11.57 ERA, 2.36 WHIP, 3.86 K/9 line. In the lefty's last four starts, his ERA has been 7.94 or higher with no six inning outings. Unfortunately, Zimmermann can't be played anymore in fantasy for now. The 27-year-old will likely be scheduled to start versus the Nationals in Baltimore on June 21.
