SP Brett Oberholtzer has been traded to the Phillies in a five-player trade that sent RP Ken Giles to Houston.
Fantasy Impact
Oberholtzer is one of the lesser names in the trade, as he has had issues staying in the rotation for Houston, bouncing between the minors and majors. Obi is unlikely to provide much, if any, fantasy value next season, as his role is very uncertain in Philly, and even if a SP job was given to him there is no saying he will provide much with it. Keep him off your draft board for now.
Brett Oberholtzer was ejected with one out in the second inning for throwing at Alex Rodriguez. He had allowed six runs on four hits, while walking three batters in 1.1 IP.
Fantasy Impact
Oberholtzer was having a solid start to his season, after spending the first two months on the DL. With a sub-three ERA heading into the contest, Oberholtzer looked uncomfortable on the mound and did not have command of any of his pitches. After his ejection, Oberholtzer owns 4.32 ERA and is currently on the hook for the loss. It will be worth monitoring his next start if you are an owner of the Astros pitcher to see how he rebounds.
Brett Oberholtzer picked up his second straight quality-start pitching 6.1 innings, allowing three runs while striking out five batters. The Astros beat the Rockies 8-4.
Fantasy Impact
Oberholtzer picked up his second win of the year, improving his record to 2-1 with a 2.73 ERA in 26.1 IP. Oberholtzer has vastly improved the way he pitches, obtaining over 55% of groundball outs in 2015, where the previous high in his career was 33%. He is yet to allow a home run as well, which was a demon of Oberholtzer in years past. If available in your league, the time is now to pick him up before he continues to impress with another start.
Brett Oberholtzer pitched 5.1 innings, allowing two runs on seven hits, with two walks and three strikeouts. He earned a no-decision as the Astros beat the Orioles 5-2.
Fantasy Impact
Oberholtzer was solid in his return from the disabled list, moving through the Orioles lineup with ease the first three innings. After allowing runs in consecutive innings, Oberholtzer was pulled after amassing 82 pitches with two runners on in the fifth inning. Look for Oberholtzer to last longer in future starts, manager AJ Hinch did not want to press the issue with his pitcher that just came off the DL. Brett possesses fantasy value in 12-man leagues and could be worth a flier in standard formats, but you may want to monitor his next few starts.
Brett Oberholtzer will be activated from the 15-day DL, taking Scott Feldman's place in the Astros rotation. Oberholtzer will likely start Monday against the Orioles.
Fantasy Impact
This was Oberholtzer's second stint on the DL this season, both times aggravating a blister on his left index-finger. He only last three innings in his season-debut earlier in the month against the Giants, tossing three innings before leaving with the injured finger. With Scott Feldman expected to miss six weeks due to knee surgery, look for Oberholtzer to stay in the Astros rotation barring an unforeseen injury, possessing decent value in deeper formats.
