The A's have released 1B/DH Brandon Moss, according to Susan Slusser.
Fantasy Impact
Moss came over from the Royals in late January, but his inclusion in the trade seemed more of a way for the A's to also add Ryan Buchter. With several notable sluggers still on the free agent market, it is unlikely that Moss will be claimed on waivers, and unclear if he will find another job in MLB. Moss has stated that he will retire if he isn't offered a major-league job somewhere, so this could be the end of the line for the slugger.
Brandon Moss went 1-3 with a two-run single. These are the only runs that the Royals could muster against the Indians as they lost 3-2.
Fantasy Impact
Moss has been hot over the past two weeks, hitting .282 with four homers and 13 RBIs. If you are desperate to chase the hot bat during the stretch run, Moss is under strong consideration. Moss now has 22 homers, but only 49 RBIs.
Brandon Moss went 2-2 with a grand slam in the first inning, providing all the offense the Royals would need in a 4-3 victory over the White Sox.
Fantasy Impact
Moss is red-hot right now, cranking three homers over his past three games. While his earlier play in the season indicates that this will subside soon, feel free to grab him as a flyer on the waiver wire to see if he can hit for the rest of the week. He did hit 28 homers last year and is up to 21 this year, so he is definitely capable of this late season power surge. Try to ignore the .210 average and 45 RBIs for the year, though.
Brandon Moss led most of the Royals putrid offense Monday, going 2-3 with a solo shot. The Royals lost 11-3.
Fantasy Impact
Moss is on a nice two-game surge, going 4-7 with two homers and five RBIs. However, his stats this year (.205 average, 41 RBIs) say that he will not keep this up. You can do better on the wire.
Brandon Moss hit his 19th homer on the year, a three-run blast in the seventh inning against the Twins. He finished the day 2-4 with 4 RBIs and two runs scored. The Twins won handily 11-3.
Fantasy Impact
Moss still is not fantasy relevant, given his .201 average and only 40 RBIs. Stay away.
