Dixon didn't appear in the club's final contest prior to the All-Star break but will start against left-hander Christopher Sanchez on Friday. Dixon has hit .211 with two homers and a .264 wOBA on the season but should get the bulk of DH reps against left-handed pitching with Nelson Cruz being cut loose.

Dixon went 2-for-3 with a double, a walk, and a run scored on Tuesday against left-hander Rich Hill but will predictably return to the bench Wednesday against right-hander Mitch Keller. Overall, it hasn't been a great season for Dixon at the plate as he's hitting .238 with two homers, a tiny 1.4% BB%, and a 31.4% K% across 70 plate appearances.

The Padres are stacking right-handed hitters against Guardians lefty Logan Allen which gives Dixon the start at first base over Jake Cronenworth. It's been a tough go at the plate for Dixon who is hitting just .212 with two homers, one stolen base, and a .270 wOBA across 58 trips to the plate.
