Barnes went 0-for-5 in the Rockies' 12-10 loss to the Dodgers on Sunday afternoon. He left six men on base in the ballgame.
Fantasy Impact
Barnes was given a rare opportunity to leadoff for Walt Weiss' ball club and was a huge disappointment especially with all those LOB. Barnes is getting more playing time with Charlie Blackmon's injury but is at best a fourth OF and has no fantasy relevance.
Brandon Barnes started on Wednesday and he made the most of it. He went 3-for-4 with a home run, two RBI, and two runs scored. He also added a double.
Fantasy Impact
Barnes has not gotten a lot of action this season but he has performed well when he has. He is hitting .261 with two home runs, 17 RBI, and also has 11 doubles. The Rockies may start to use him more as we come down the stretch.
Barnes had himself a night at the plate tripling and going 3-for-4 with a run, and an RBI. Barnes is currently riding a 5-game hitting streak.
Fantasy Impact
Brandon has played extremely well in limited playing time for the Rox. He is sitting on a very solid .293 average after tonight's game. He really is a much better real life player than fantasy player, but should he get thrust into a full-time role he will be well worth consideration in deep leagues.
Brandon Barnes was called up from triple-A on Wednesday, and on Thursday he went 4-for-4 with a run and an RBI.
Fantasy Impact
Barnes was called up to replace struggling outfielder Drew Stubbs, and answered the call with some authority in his first start in a Rockies uniform this season. While it is a small sample size, Barnes should get plenty of playing time while Corey Dickerson is on the DL. He would be a solid plug-and-play for any Colorado home series in 12-team leagues. Last year at Coors; .299/.338/.552 with 7 HR in limited playing time.
Colorado Rockies optioned outfielder Brandon Barnes to Triple-A Albuquerque.
Fantasy Impact
Barnes played for the Rockies last season, but he hit just .229 this spring. The Rockies will open the season with four viable outfielders on the roster; Charlie Blackmon, Carlos Gonzalez, Corey Dickerson and Drew Stubbs.
