The Tigers acquired left-handed reliever Bailey Horn from the Cardinals on Thursday in exchange for cash, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports.

Horn was designated for assignment earlier in the day, but Detroit quickly moved to add the 27-year-old to its pitching depth. He struggled in his first taste of the majors with Boston last season, posting a 6.50 ERA and 1.78 WHIP across 18 innings, and his command issues have followed him into spring training with five walks in 2.1 frames. Horn will report to Triple-A to begin the season, but if he can improve his control, he could work his way into Detroit’s bullpen mix.
