Fantasy Impact
Painter will likely undergo Tommy John surgery after meeting with a specialist early next week. The 20-year-old right hander was diagnosed with a partially torn UCL in March and was focused on rehabbing to avoid surgery. Phillies’ manager Rob Thomson did not reveal what type of testing Painter was undergoing. The 20-year-old did throw a bullpen session Wednesday but is not recovering the way the team anticipated from a partially torn UCL. It is possible that Tommy John surgery could be in play depending on the results of Painter’s tests.
