Milwaukee Brewers relief pitcher Alex Claudio left Saturday's Cactus League game after being hit in the leg by a comebacker.
Fantasy Impact
The comebacker came off the bat of the first and only batter Claudio would face on the day as he left the game after completing the Nick Pratto groundout. Brewers skipper Craig Counsell did not have an official update on the southpaw but did say after the game he thinks Claudio will be OK. The 31-year-old has scuffled in recent seasons and pitched just 3 1/3 innings in 2022. He owns a career 3.60 ERA across 355 big-league appearances but has posted an ERA of 4.06 or worse in each of his last four seasons prior to 2022.
Angels' reliever Alex Claudio (1-1) threw one inning of hitless baseball en route to his first victory of the season against the Diamondbacks.
Fantasy Impact
The lefty sidearmer looked great in his lone inning of work on Saturday, and the Angels' offense rewarded him with a comeback victory over the Diamondbacks. Claudio is likely to remain on waivers, however, as there are other more effective relief options out there for fantasy purposes.
The Angels signed LHP Alex Claudio to a one-year, $1.125 million contract.
Fantasy Impact
The Angels continue to revamp their bullpen as they also recently traded for Raisel Iglesias of the Reds. The 28-year-old Claudio will function as a lefty specialist for the Angels.
Alex Claudio allowed one run (unearned) while striking out one across one inning to earn the save in Saturday's 6-5 win over the Cubs.
Fantasy Impact
Claudio entered the game in the tenth inning and did not allow a hit or a walk to record his first save of the year. Brewers closer Josh Hader was unavailable after pitching one 1/3 innings on Friday. Claudio will most likely be used in middle relief situations, and is not expected to see save opportunities. The 28-year-old owns a 2.84 ERA, 1.11 WHIP and 4:2 K:BB across six 1/3 innings this season.
The Texas Rangers have traded left handed reliever Alex Claudio to the Brewers for a competitive balance draft pick.
Fantasy Impact
Despite a tough year last year with a 4.48 ERA in 68 innings, Claudio has proved to be a really solid left handed arm out of the bullpen in previous years. He should be an important piece of the Brewers bullpen but not one you will need on your fantasy roster.
