Sean Newcomb allows six runs in loss
by Bruno Mulé | Sat, Apr 12th 9:40am EDT
Red Sox left-hander Sean Newcomb took the loss Friday against the White Sox, allowing six runs (two earned) on six hits and two walks while striking out six over four innings. Poor defense contributed to the damage, though Newcomb also struggled to miss bats, generating only five swinging strikes on 94 pitches.
Fantasy Impact:
Unearned runs masked some struggles Friday, as Newcomb generated few whiffs (5) and owns a high 2.13 season WHIP. Filling in temporarily, his rotation spot isn't secure long-term, presenting considerable risk for fantasy managers relying on him.
