Daulton Varsho (shoulder) threw out to around 105 feet Thursday and could be cleared to play the outfield by the time the Blue Jays open their season March 27 against the Orioles, Keegan Matheson of MLB.com reports. (Keegan Matheson)
Fantasy Impact:
Varsho continues to make steady progress in his recovery from right shoulder surgery, which initially put his Opening Day status in doubt. While he hasn’t yet resumed outfield duties, he has been a full participant in his hitting progression, going 5-for-16 with three home runs as a designated hitter in Grapefruit League action. Given his Gold Glove-caliber defense, Toronto will likely be cautious with his return to the field, potentially using him as a DH early in the season until he's fully cleared for outfield duties.
