Charlie Morton mauled by Mets in rough outing

by Chris Schommer | Braves Correspondent | Sat, Jul 27th 9:55am EDT

Charlie Morton struggled mightily in Friday's 8-4 loss to the Mets, surrendering five earned runs on six hits and one walk while striking out two over just 2 2/3 innings.

Fantasy Impact:

This performance not only inflates his ERA but also casts doubts on his reliability moving forward in fantasy lineups. Given his season-long ERA of 4.16 and a WHIP that has now likely ticked to 1.25, Morton's inconsistency is becoming a significant concern. His ability to strike out batters at a decent clip (8.7 K/9) still provides some value, but fantasy managers might want to consider matchup-based decisions rather than automatic starts with Morton, especially against high-scoring teams.
