San Francisco Giants outfielder Luis Gonzalez underwent surgery to repair a herniated disc in his lower back Tuesday, according to manager Gabe Kapler. (MLB.com)

The 27-year-old outfielder could miss half the season after undergoing the knife but is expected to play in the 2023 season. Gonzalez appeared in 98 games for the Giants in 2022, hitting .254 with four homers, 10 steals, and a .683 OPS across 350 trips to the plate. He also raked to a .289 average with six homers, four steals, and a .941 OPS across 20 games at the Triple-A level a season ago.
