The San Francisco Giants placed OF Luis Gonzalez on the 10-day IL Thursday with a lower back strain, retroactive to June 22. They recalled Donovan Walton from Triple-A Sacramento. (Andrew Baggarly on Twitter)
Fantasy Impact:
Gonzalez was scratched from Wednesday's lineup, and a subsequent MRI showed the strain. San Francisco gave no timetable for his return. In 49 games, the 26-year-old has been a boon to fantasy managers, slashing .302/.361/.477 with seven stolen bases and 20 runs scored. He may not be worth a hold with the return of LaMonte Wade set to return soon, so keep an eye on the Giants' outfield situation if you roster Gonzalez.
