Jon Lester beats Brewers with quality start; Cardinals win ninth straight
by Lucas Spence | Mon, Sep 20th 11:52pm EDT
Jon Lester pitched six solid innings on Monday, allowing just three hits and two runs while striking out two and improving his record to 7-6 on the season.
Fantasy Impact:
The Cardinals have now won nine straight games as Lester out-dueled Freddy Peralta. Both runs allowed were solo home runs in the second inning (Avisail Garcia and Luis Urias). Lester has now recorded three consecutive quality starts and six straight starts allowing two earned runs or fewer. Amazingly, he's accomplished this despite allowing eight home runs in his past five starts. The 37-year-old owns a 4.59 ERA and 1.47 WHIP and will face one of his former teams at Wrigley Field this weekend. Given how well he and the Cardinals are rolling, he makes for an intriguing streaming option for that matchup.
