by Chris Zolli | Tue, Apr 28th 9:14pm EDT
After being re-called earlier on Tuesday, Whitley pitched five innings against the Rays, allowing six hits, one run, one walk, and five strikeouts. With the injury to Masahiro Tanaka, Whitley may earn more starts.
Fantasy Impact:
Whitley had a 1.17 ERA in 15 1/3 Spring Training innings and had 12 starts for the Yankees last season, so this will not be the first time in the majors for Whitley. He did have a 5.23 ERA in 75 2/3 innings with the Yankees in 2014, but had a solid 2.14 walks per nine last season. Whitley has a 1.69 ERA in 37 1/3 innings between Spring Training, Triple-A Scranton Wilkes-Barre, and the Yankees this season, posting a 3.44 K:BB.
