Steve Geltz get first major league win

by Jamison Malasko | Wed, Apr 15th 2:04pm EDT

Steve Geltz pitched 1 1/3 innings in relief to pick up his first major league win in a 3-2 victory over Toronto. He came on in the sixth inning in relief of Kirby Yates to get the final out and pitched a scoreless seventh. Grant Balfour pitched the eighth and Kevin Jepsen closed it out for his first save of the year.

Fantasy Impact:

With Drew Smyly and Alex Cobb still working their way back from injuries the Rays have been using spot starters as fourth and fifth starters. Matt Andriese got the start on Tuesday and was able to work into the fourth before four relievers completed the game. On Wednesday, Erasmo Rameriz will get the start which means more long innings for the bullpen. Geltz only threw only 16 pitched so will likely be called upon to pitch again tonight. In four appearances he has a 1.59 ERA.
