The Phillies have signed veteran reliever Tony Watson to a minor league deal. The southpaw will report to Spring Training and compete for a spot in the big-league bullpen. (Todd Zolecki on Twitter)
Fantasy Impact:
Watson, 35, is a former ninth-round pick with 10 years of MLB experience. The former All-Star spent the past three seasons with San Francisco, owning a 3.20 ERA in 153 outings. In 2020 alone, he had a 2.50 ERA in 21 games, allowing just five earned runs over 18 innings. He clearly has the stat line to crack an MLB roster, so this could prove to be a very valuable signing for Philadelphia.
