The number of pitchers competing for the fifth spot in the Rangers rotation shrunk by one today when Texas optioned Anthony Ranaudo to Triple-A Round Rock. (www.mlb.com)
Fantasy Impact:
Ranaudo was one of four pitchers with a legitimate shot at earning a spot in the rotation, but failed to take advantage of the opportunity. In four appearances, including three starts, Ranaudo tossed 14.1 innings, allowing 16 hits and nine runs (eight earned) while walking three and striking out eight. Ranaudo was acquired by the Red Sox in a trade for Robbie Ross Jr., during the offseason.
